Linked swissbib
The linked Swiss metacatalog
The project linked.swissbib.ch aims to integrate the metacatalog swissbib into the semantic web, with the creation of a Linked Data service. This implies the transformation of the metadata of swissbib into a semantic format based on the RDF model (Resource Description Framework). The data will be linked with other datasets on the web. An application exploiting the added value of the new semantic structure will be developed and integrated to the basic services of swissbib.
Through this web-compatible format, the data will have a better interoperability and present more flexible possibilities for reuse.
Context
The project linked.swissbib.ch is realized within the CUS programme 2013-2016 P-2 "Scientific Information : access, processing and preservation". It is jointly carried out by the Haute école de gestion de Genève, the Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Chur and the Basel University Library. The project started on 1 November 2014 and ended on 30st of April 2017.
Since the end of the project the swissbib Team integrated the results into the productive swissbib platform and user interface. More about the integration: Integration linked
