From swissbib
General
The bibliographic data of libraries participating in swissbib will be harvested by swissbib on a regular basis. Therefore the data must be prepared by the participating site for the initial load as well as for the ongoing update of swissbib.
Export
The formats used for export data out of library systems could be either IDSMARC or MARC21 as information structure and ISO2709 or XML as carrier format. The latter is in fact preferred.
Technical questions
In order to get the data in a usable form the source systems have to be configured to deliver different kind of information such as:
- bibliographic data
- item and serials holding information
- information on digital objects (such as pictures, full text, abstracts, tables of content)
- availability information
The extent of information needed is defined by minimal standards for the OCLC solution as well as swissbib needs to filter and amend the information of the library networks.
